Wed.12 Nov from Gallery 1C03 at the University of Winnipeg (Museum / Fundation, Canada )
Gallery 1C03 is a non-profit public gallery at The University of Winnipeg that opened in the 1986-87 academic year. Since that time, we have shown more than 65 exhibitions and welcomed over 80,000 visitors. The Gallery provides the campus community and general public with opportunities to learn about visual art, thereby reinforcing and emphasizing the educational mandate of the University. Students, faculty, staff, University classes, and outside groups regularly participate in openings, artist talks, and exclusive visits. Tours can be arranged for school groups, clubs, and the general public. Gallery 1C03 shows a variety of subjects and media. Paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, sculptures, textiles, ceramics, furniture, installations, performances, and videos have all been featured. Art that deals with questions of history, politics, technology, feminism, sexuality, ethnicity, and other issues has been displayed to intersect with various programs of study at the University. Typically, the Gallery highlights the work of contemporary Manitoban and Canadian artists. However, we have presented some historical shows and exhibited work by artists from the United States, Mexico, Peru, Germany, Spain, Finland, Ukraine, China, and Australia. Gallery 1C03 is located on the first floor of Centennial Hall beside the UWSA Info Booth. Normally, four exhibitions are presented between September and March each year. When an exhibition is open, Gallery hours are Monday to Friday, noon to 4 pm, and Saturday, 1 to 4 pm.
